REEL JUSTICE

MICATA is pleased to announce that one of the interpreters’ workshops planned for this year, REEL JUSTICE, will be integrated as an introductory 2-hour session during the 2010 MICATA Annual Symposium (May 22, 2010).

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a session of Simultaneous Interpreting hands-on practice. The presenters are Phyllis Launius of the Office of State Courts Administration for the state of Missouri, and Marcela Renna, a U.S. and State Court Certified Spanish Interpreter. They will use clips of legal thriller movies to coach participants to simultaneously interpret from English into their other working language.

This event will be non-language specific.  Look for more details in information on the MICATA Symposium and we look forward to this fun event.

TRAINING SEMINAR ON MS OFFICE

MICATA is proud to cosponsor an upcoming training seminar on MS Office offered by Dennis Ayzin, President of TranslationPerfect.com. The seminar will cover the following:

1. Outlook setup, security, HIPAA, stationery, cell phone integration, e-mail, scheduling, task and contacts.

2. MS Word for translators: document layout, standards in translations, tables, pictures, advanced formatting, Adobe Acrobat, Excel and Outlook integration, shortcuts, etc.

3. MS Excel for translators: Dictionaries, tables, layouts and formatting, automation and shortcuts, etc.
